Jeremy Stephens dominated Octagon newcomer Danny Downes and George Roop upset former featherweight contender Josh Grispi in featured preliminary matchups at Saturday?s The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale event in Las Vegas.
After a close opening round, Stephens nearly finished the WEC veteran Downes in the second with a deep kimura and bloodied him in the third but settled for a unanimous decision with 30-27, 30-26, and 30-26 scores.
Meanwhile, Grispi put Roop in danger in the opening round with several submission attempts, but quickly faded to suffer his second-straight loss with a third-round body shot.
The prelims also included Scott Jorgensen?s first-round KO of Ken Stone from guard, Reuben Duran?s third-round rear naked choke of Francisco Rivera, and decision wins for TUF 13?s Clay Harvison and Shamar Bailer over Justin Edwards and Ryan McGillivray respectively.
