Anger management worksheets can help | In My Diary

This is a tough subject to talk about, and so it?s generally not. But it?s important to get it into the open and made acceptable for people to admit it?s a problem. I?m talking about excessive anger issues, or anger management. Everyone gets angry at times, but when the emotion starts to effect the people you communicate with ? you have an issue. This short essay will be about the first few steps you can take to start controlling your anger.

Perhaps the first step you can take, after you have admitted you have a problem, is to start a journal to write down all the things you notice about the behavior ? are there certain triggers, certain situations where it always happens, physical cues as a?precursor to the anger, etc.

To get some help with the kinds of things to document, seek out the free anger management worksheets available on the web. They have checklists you can follow that ask all kinds of questions about the emotion.?Writing, in and of itself, is cathartic, and already a good therapy.

While you?re writing your journal, we?ll say something more about writing ? today?s communications can be instantaneous ? think email, Twitter, SMS, BBM, Facebook. When you?re angry, it?s probably the worst time to write or respond to a message. So write the thing anyways, and then let it sit for a few hours before sending. I?m sure you?ll want to edit it again before you send it?

Seek some?counselling from an anger-management therapist. The?importance of communication with someone who has?empathy?for your position, and can likely offer tools and techniques to manage it, is critical. Long gone are the days when it was embarrassing to seek professional help ? no it?s just as likely that you would be shamed for not seeking therapy.

While these only represent the starting point for anger management ? it is a very powerful start!
