There are many different kinds of bamboo and this plant is somewhat of a botanical phenomenon. When conditions are just perfect, the plant will send up new shoots that can grow with great speed ? up to two inches every hour ? so there is a lot more to a bamboo tattoo than you think. Despite the fast growth of its shoots, the bamboo plant only flowers maybe once in its lifetime often after sixty to hundred years or more. Sadly after flowering the bamboo dies however there is one species with a covert life which synchronizes with every other plant of its kind so that they flower all at the same time. This happens in different geographic locations all over the world simultaneously, just like magic!
