Positive effects of the north Minneapolis tornado

MINNEAPOLIS - The tornado that devastated north Minneapolis in May of 2011 has apparently had some positive effects on the community.

Chad Schwitters with Urban Homeworks says the recovery effort helped unemployment in the city's north side. City officials made sure local contractors received the grant money used to rebuild the area.

In the year since the twister, the Business Recover Loan Program has made $117,000 in loans to 27 businesses.

However, the work is not done. One-hundred-thirteen properties still have roof damage. Assistance is still being offered to those owners.
